Overview
Privilege elevation lets an operator switch a function from the Worker Mode account to System (Windows) or root (Linux and macOS), or add an action that runs as System or root to a task.
Switching to elevated mode asks the operator for their own password. The authorisation then lasts 10 minutes.
Elevating a function
Terminal, File Manager, Log Viewer and File Editor each have an elevation slider.
The account in use is shown beside the slider - here File Manager has been switched to Root.
- Toggle the slider on to switch the function to System or root. You are asked for your password, unless you have entered it in the last 10 minutes
- Toggle it off to return to the Worker Mode account - no password is needed
- The slider is greyed out if the agent or your operator profile does not allow elevation
Elevation in tasks
The Command, Script and File Transfer actions have an Elevated tick box - see Tasks.
- Tick it to run that action as System or root. You are asked for your password when you tick it, not when the task runs
- When the task runs, the action is refused if the agent does not allow elevation
- Elevated is not available for an action set to run at the control
